Double the Distance, Double the Impact: Swimming the English Channel Round-Trip for Inclusion

This August, a team of five determined swimmers from Hong Kong will take on one of the most extreme endurance challenges in open water history: a round-trip relay swim across the English Channel. Led by veteran Channel swimmer CHANG Lai Shan Eliza, the team includes CHEUNG Man Ling Melody, MIU Tanaka, CHAN Chi Wah Ringo, and TAM Ka Po—united by a shared purpose: to swim for a cause that matters.

Swim Window: 29 August – 5 September 2025 Challenge: English Channel Round-Trip Relay (approx. 80 km) Fundraising Goal: Support Wheel For Oneness, a charity committed to empowering people with disabilities through inclusive programs and community outreach.

Why This Challenge?

The English Channel is notorious for its frigid waters, strong currents, and unpredictable weather. A one-way relay swim is already a rare accomplishment. A round-trip relay? It’s a bold and extraordinary feat attempted by only a handful of teams worldwide.

But this isn’t just about athletic achievement. It’s about swimming with purpose. The team is dedicating this challenge to Wheel For Oneness, whose mission is to promote dignity, inclusion, and opportunity for people with disabilities in Hong Kong.
